The methods of making rose wine also include presse or pressing, which is a technique that involves pressing the grapes until the juice reaches the desired color, with the pressed juice being the only one made into rose wine. Another method is the run-off which is for most winemakers, the least preferred method of making rose wine as it tends to produce low quality wine because it involves removing juice from a tank of fermenting red wine.
Most wine connoisseurs will tell you that rose wines taste very similar to white wines or subtle versions of their heavy red counterparts. You can also taste fruity overtones similar to strawberry, cherry and raspberry with a hint of citrus and watermelon thrown in. This is what makes it so perfect for the summer because it can be very refreshing to the palate. It's light-bodied and delicate flavors make it a very versatile drink.
In order to maximize your enjoyment of this pink delight, you must first learn when and how to serve it. Ideally served chilled, a rose wine's temperature should be at 50 to 56 Fahrenheit, which means you need to keep it in the refrigerator for at approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes before serving, because rose wines cool at about 4 degrees Fahrenheit every ten minutes. Fill a glass about � full, then tip and swirl in your mouth to taste it. Leftover rose wines can be stored for up to three days before it starts to lose its flavor.
